I came late to the Harry Potter fandom, but I was captivated by book 1, and downright in love when book 3 came along. The glimpses we were given of the adult world, the hints at the tragedy in the background, Remus Lupin and Sirius Black, Harry's parents and Severus Snape The first was practically canon, the latter was interesting because of the dynamics age, enmity, Voldemort and the fact that it quickly became so popular. I love Sirius, and I cannot abide stories in which he's constantly put down and ridiculed while Snape is given the power to hurt him. To me they are equals, and book 5's canon as well as the Veil are things I try to ignore. I want Sirius to be exonerated, recompensed for the lost years of his life, and healthy and happy again with the people he cares about.

Remus told himself he was just waiting for the right time, but there was a great deal of fear holding him back, too.
